Practice is underway for Sunday’s eighth Red Bull Indianapolis GP, and 2009 champion Jorge Lorenzo showed early strength on Friday morning with a top lap of 1 minute, 33.654 seconds around the 16-turn, 2.591-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. Lorenzo, on the No. 99 Movistar Yamaha, took over the top spot late in the session from Marc Marquez, the two-time defending champion of the Red Bull Indianapolis GP. Marquez was second in the session at 1:33.747 on the No. 93 Repsol Honda. View Session Results Rounding out the top five were No. 4 Andrea Dovizioso (1:33.871), No. 26 Dani Pedrosa (1:34.050) and No. 46 Valentino Rossi (1:34.374). Nicky Hayden, of Owensboro, Kentucky, clocked in 18th in the opening practice with a time of 1:35.340. MotoGP’s second practice will be at 2:05 p.m. Friday.
