If you’re looking for the best in world-class motorcycle racing, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the place to be this weekend for the Red Bull Indianapolis GP. If you’re looking for the best in motorcycle culture, Monument Circle and South Meridian Street in downtown Indianapolis is the place to be on Friday and Saturday night. For the seventh consecutive year, downtown will roar with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s Motorcycles on Meridian, featuring custom choppers, sportbikes, vintage Harleys and any other steel horse you can imagine, not to mention their riders and hundreds of other onlookers. The event is free and open to everyone with or without bikes. The event will be emceed by Allan Lane, publisher and editor-in-chief of SPORTBIKES INC, a monthly publication that covers the culture of the sportbike industry in the U.S. The street festival runs from 7 p.m.-midnight on Friday, Aug. 8, and 4 p.m.-midnight on Saturday, Aug. 9. Riders will park their machines along Meridian Street from Monument Circle to South Street. A parking lot at 125 S. Meridian will be converted to a hip place for fans to hang out. It’ll include a beer garden, food, Red Bull D.J., and more -- open to guests 21 and older. IMS will also have a ticket trailer downtown on the corner of S. Meridian St. and E. Chesapeake St. where fans can purchase a commemorative Motorcycles on Meridian T-shirt as well as tickets and paddock passes to the Red Bull Indianapolis GP on Sunday.
