The Red Bull Indianapolis GP will return to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 2013, with an expected race date in mid-August to be announced in the future. There are two years remaining on the agreement between IMS and sanctioning organization and commercial rights holder Dorna to bring all three classes of the MotoGP World Championship – MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 – to the Brickyard. “I was very pleased last fall when we agreed to keep the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on the MotoGP schedule for 2012, 2013 and 2014,” said Jeff Belskus, president and CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation. “Fans at IMS really enjoy seeing the very best riders on the fastest motorcycles in the world, and the Red Bull Indianapolis GP is an extremely exciting weekend – jam-packed with racing and tremendous interactive, fan-friendly activities, all in a festival-type atmosphere.” The 2013 event once again will see superstars Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa race against American standouts Nicky Hayden and Colin Edwards aboard 1000cc prototype motorcycles from Ducati, Honda and Yamaha on the 16-turn, 2.621-mile IMS road course. The race weekend also will include competition in the Moto2 (600cc) and Moto3 (250cc) World Championship classes featuring riders from around the world. “Following a successful weekend of MotoGP racing, I’m very pleased that we will be returning to this iconic venue next year,” said Carmelo Ezpeleta, Dorna CEO. “Steeped in racing history, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is an ideal track to not only host some of the best racing in the world but to also provide fans with an experience they won't forget.” Popular off-track activities also will return, including motorcycle manufacturers and aftermarket companies displaying and selling their products at the Interactive Display area in the IMS infield and the Vendor Marketplace in the Gasoline Alley garage area. Beginning Monday, Aug. 20, IMS is offering 2013 Red Bull Indianapolis GP fans incentives to secure tickets before Monday, Sept. 4. Fans who reorder or apply for tickets have an opportunity to purchase a track lap and practice and qualifying day tickets at discounted prices and will be provided early access to the 2013 MotoGP pit walk.
