Meet the Nationwide Drivers: Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Meet the Nationwide Drivers: Ricky Stenhouse Jr.

If you were to describe Ricky Stenhouse Jr. as accomplished, your words would most certainly be labeled an understatement. At only 24 years of age Stenhouse has accomplished feats that some drivers spend their entire careers striving for and others can only dream of.

By the time he was 15 years old Stenhouse had 47 titles and more than 90 podium finishes as a go-kart racer. In more recent years Stenhouse was honored as the 2010 NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year, he has finished in the top ten 45 top times, and in 2011 he became the Nationwide Series Champion. His championship made him Roush Fenway’s 6th all-time NASCAR champion. It’s easy to see that Stenhouse is nothing short of a champion.

So far this season, Stenhouse has 3 wins in the Nationwide Series. One of those wins happened to be Stenhouse’s third consecutive victory at Iowa Speedway.

“It almost feels like a hometown race to us now,” he said after his 2012 Iowa win. His other two 2012 wins have come from Texas and Las Vegas.

Now imagine if he were to add an Indy title to that list.

Stenhouse will be competing in the NASCAR Nationwide Series event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 28. As the inaugural Nationwide race at IMS, it will be exciting to see how things turn out.

It will also be the first time Stenhouse has laid rubber on the IMS grounds. Can he add another 2012 win at ‘The Greatest Race Course in the World’? I guess we’ll find out.

I think it’s fair to say that Ricky Stenhouse Jr. is well on his way to being considered a racing legend. He has so much valuable time left in his career to accomplish many goals. Will Indy be on that list?
