Ghostland Observatory, Kelley James, DJ Mick Boogie To Perform At Red Bull Indianapolis GP

Unique electro-rock band Ghostland Observatory, acoustic pop/freestyle artist Kelley James and in-demand DJ Mick Boogie will perform Saturday evening, Aug. 27 on the infield stage at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the Red Bull Indianapolis GP. 

James will open the evening of music at 6:30 p.m., followed by Boogie. Ghostland Observatory will take the stage at 9 p.m. The concerts are included in the regular $20 general admission, with a special $15 admission for students. Children 12 and under are free when accompanied by an adult.

Ghostland Observatory consists of vocalist/guitarist Aaron Behrens and producer/beat maker Thomas Turner, who fuse rock, funk and electronica into a pumping party mix. MOKB Presents, an Indianapolis-based concert producer, helped to bring Ghostland Observatory to IMS.

The band has released four albums since 2005 on the Trashy Moped Recordings label. Its latest records, “Robotique Majestique” in 2008 and “Codename: Rondo” in 2010, both reached the Top 10 on the Billboard Top Electronic Albums chart.

James has gained a national following with his quick-witted lyrics over acoustic guitars, hip-hop beats and freestyle flows. He has released two full-length albums and three EP’s. James’ latest EP, “The Recent Future,” was released in June 2011 and infuses pop melodies with laid-back hip-hop flows.

California native James has collaborated with a variety of artists, including Kate Voegele, LMFAO, O.A.R., T-Pain, Sara Bareilles, Slightly Stoopid and Mike Posner as well as performed at a wide variety of major sporting and cultural events, including the X Games, AMA Supercross, Major League Baseball All-Star Party, SXSW and the Sundance Film Festival.

New York-based Boogie has become one of the America’s most in-demand DJ talents, spinning a diverse range of music from 80s, rock and soul to disco, house and electro along with hip-hop and mash-ups during energetic performances.

Boogie has performed at parties for clients such as Will Smith, Nike, The Hollywood Reporter, Red Bull, LeBron James, LVMH, Jay-Z, Serena Williams, The Grammy Foundation and more. His creative mixtapes with artists such as Adele, Kanye West, Coldplay, Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs are are the talk of the street and the “blogosphere.”

As part of the Ghostland Observatory tour, IMS is offering a special $15 admission for students Saturday, Aug. 27 at the Red Bull Indianapolis GP. A valid student ID will be required for ticket purchase.

Tickets must be purchased in advance online, via a remote trailer on race weekend at Gates 3, 6, 9, and 10, or at the IMS Administration Building at the corner of Georgetown Road and 16th Street. The concerts are among the many new “IMS After Dark” fan attractions creating a great party destination at the Red Bull Indianapolis GP. Others include the new “Main Street” area in the IMS infield, with featured V-Twin and Leather and Lace areas and exciting new food and drink options.

The 2011 Red Bull Indianapolis GP is scheduled for Aug. 26-28 at IMS.

Race Day general admission tickets cost $40, with Friday general admission $10 and Saturday general admission $20. A three-day general admission ticket is $60. A Friday-Saturday general admission ticket is $25.

Children ages 12 and under will be admitted free any of the three days of the event when accompanied by an adult with a general admission ticket.

Race Day reserved seat prices will start at $70.
