Nearly Entire Victorious Team USA at Solheim Cup To Play Sept. 7-9 in Indy Women in Tech Championship Presented by Guggenheim at Brickyard Crossing

Nearly the entire United States team that retained the Solheim Cup Aug. 20 will come to Brickyard Crossing Golf Course Sept. 7-9 to compete in the inaugural Indy Women in Tech Championship presented by Guggenheim LPGA tournament.

Eleven of the 12 members of the victorious U.S. team have committed to play in the tournament at the course located at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, including Lexi Thompson, Danielle Kang, Michelle Wie and Paula Creamer.

Team USA defeated Team Europe, 16.5-11.5, at W. Des Moines, Iowa, in the biennial, match-play competition.

Thompson, ranked No. 2 in the world, ensured Team Europe would not climb into contention for victory Sunday, the final day of the competition. She rallied from a four-hole deficit against Anna Nordqvist after the first nine holes to halve the match after shooting a spectacular 29 on the back side. Team USA rolled to its second consecutive Solheim Cup victory from that point.

All 144 players in the Indy Women in Tech presented by Guggenheim – vying for a winner’s purse of $300,000 – will play on a rerouted version of Brickyard Crossing. Traditional holes 7-10 inside the track will become tournament holes 15-18, with the procession of the remaining holes also changing. The decision to reroute the golf course was done to create a more impactful experience for players, spectators, and television viewers.

The official field list becomes final Tuesday, Aug. 29.

Tickets for the event are available at IMS.com. For more information about the tournament and tickets, visit IMS.com or iwitchamp.com.
