Super Weekend: The Most Exciting, Memorable NASCAR Weekend
What better way to spend a summer weekend than at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the inaugural Kroger Super Weekend at the Brickyard?
This year IMS has planned an extra-thrilling long weekend full of racing and entertainment from July 26-29. Four races will take place in three days, all on one track.
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will return for its 19th consecutive year at the “Racing Capital of the World” for the Crown Royal presents the “Your Hero’s Name Here” 400 on Sunday, July 29. Drivers will complete 160 laps on the 2.5-mile track in pursuit of a winner’s title and the chance to kiss the bricks. In addition, the NASCAR Nationwide Series will race at IMS for the first time Saturday, July 28, creating a NASCAR-filled weekend.
GRAND-AM Road Racing also will make its first appearance Friday, July 27, showcasing the skills and talent that can be found in the Rolex and Continental Tire Sports Car Series. This is the first time since the United States Grand Prix Formula One race in 2007 that the track’s road course will be used by race cars.
Along with the race-filled weekend, IMS is offering a fanfare of events and activities.
Fans of all ages can meet their favorite drivers and ask for autographs at NASCAR and GRAND-AM autograph sessions.
And younger race fans should become a member of the IMS Kids Club! Fun activities and crafts will be provided to kids 12 and younger throughout the weekend, only enticing the excitement of motorsports racing. For more information, visit www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/kidsclub.
At the beginning of the Kroger Super Weekend, fans can get an up-close view of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series haulers at the Hauler Parade, an annual street festival on Main Street in Speedway. Live music and entertainment will take place throughout the evening, with special driver appearances and more. And for those fans who are into running, an inaugural 5K run will take place at IMS after the Hauler Parade.
The Brickfest Music Festival will be a main attraction during the weekend. With live concerts on Friday night and Sunday morning, race fans are sure to enjoy the sound of music throughout the grounds on race weekend. Special performances will be announced Saturday, May 19.
And what would race weekend be without beautiful and iconic collections of vehicles in the Car Corral? Visitors can purchase a variety of packages, granting access to the automobile showcase and meeting fellow automotive enthusiasts.
